The Irate Gamer is a series of short videos on Youtube about a man, named Chris Bores, who reviews video games, while screaming, insulting the game, and drinking beer. The series was made in 2007, and episodes are now made monthly. Many people critisize The Irate Gamer, saying it bears too much resembalance to the Angry Video Game Nerd. In 2007, a new series, Irate Neo, was made, this time featuring newer games and systems.

History

The Irate Gamer uploaded his first episode, for the game Back to the Future on NES, in 2007. Soon, he had thousands of Youtube views, and became a Youtube hit. As of August 2008, episodes are longer (usually 10-13 minutes each), the special effects have gotton better, and more 2-part episodes have been made. The series has had 2 seasons so far, season 2 started recently with the review of ROB (Which is the only NES accessory the Angry Video Game Nerd hasn't done).

Similarities to the Angry Video Game Nerd

Many fans of the AVGN have been expressing critisism on forums and chatrooms around the internet, saying that the Irate Gamer and Angry Video Game Nerd share too much in common. For example, the Irate Gamer was made a year after the AVGN. The Irate Gamer has reviewed many of the same games as the AVGN, and the Irate Gamer loudly curses and drinks beer, much like the AVGN. However, it is rumored that the two are friends, mainly because the AVGN tries to become friends with other game reviewers. However, it seems more people ultimatly favor the AVGN, one reason being that on Chris Bore's Myspace account has about 1,300 friends, while the AVGN's has over 38,000.

Pop Culture References

Many episodes of the Irate Gamer make fun of movies and TV. For example, in the Back to the Future episode, Bores goes back in time to kill the creator of the game, but in the future, shows a guy sayng all games are bad, wishing for a Back to the Future game, then goes back in time to make it (the guy was actually Bores, saying Bores made the game in the first place). The biggest reference to pop culture was in the Q*bert episode, where Bores says that Youtube threatened to fire him because he didn't review a game for a while. He hates the game so much, he says, What could Youtube do? Fire me? yeah, right!, but gets fired anyway (It was an April Fools day joke, however).

Irate Gamer Neo

Irate Gamer Neo is another video game review series by Bores. this series isn't as foul-mouthed, because most of the played games are enjoyed by Bores. He mainly does Wii games in this series, but has also done DS and Playstation 2 games. Some of the games played include Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and The Simpsons Game. What's different in this series than the normal series is that he says what he doesn't like in the games, unlike the normal series where he just humorously curses. This series is on the Gotgame website.
